Nomination: Erica Ruger LBJ ObGyn Resident PGY-2
Nominated by: Olufenwa Famakinwa, MS IV
From the day one of the ObGyn clerkship, Dr. Ruger was very welcoming and supportive of each and every medical student that she encountered. I never once noticed Dr. Ruger without a smile on her face. Dr. Ruger could usually be found running the ObGyn Triage as a night float. She would take her time to teach students the basic management of a pregnant woman in the triage unit. Furthermore, she always did so with patience and with a good attitude. From talking to other students on the rotation with me that month, she was one of the favorites among residents there. She never seemed too busy to answer a question and made me personally feel like I belonged on the team. I enjoyed every moment I spent with Dr. Ruger and think she deserves this honor. She exemplifies compassion for her patients, a passion for teaching, and a genuine respect for everyone regardless of race, status, or sex. She will be a honorable physician and is great role model for any medical student.
