Nomination:  Dr. Francisco Orejuela      OBGYN Faculty

Nominated by:  Olufenwa Famakinwa, MS IV

I am nominating Dr. Orejuela because of he demonstrates excellence and humility in medicine.  He is a great thinker and would challenge the medical students to think on our own.  He would push us to stay up to date on medical literature and enlighten ourselves on current issues.  Every week, we would have to discuss a different hot topic in medicine, particularly ObGyn.  Each medical student would be assigned a different article to discuss. He was encouraging and fostered an environment for medical students to feel a part of the operations of the team.  He is one of the nicest physicians I know and was always available for students.  He used opportunities to teach the medical student so that we would leave the rotation with a memorable experience.  Partly because of having him as my attending, I felt well prepared for the shelf test and comfortable when the time came to take the exam.   He is so knowledgable, yet so humble.  That is why I believe he deserves this honor.
