University of Texas Medical School SafeBoot Project

In order to comply with UT system requirements and protect data stored on university owned laptops, the medical school is implementing SafeBoot device encryption. This entails 1) Creating an instance of a laptop on the SafeBoot server and associating it with user accounts for those who need access to it. 2) The LAN Manager will receive an e-mail instructing them to install the client software. Once the installation has been completed, all hard disks are encrypted allowing only the designated user(s) to boot the machine into Windows.

A one time cost for each SafeBoot installation is $32.30 per laptop and will be paid for by each department.

Installation of the SafeBoot client software and password recovery is the responsibility of the departmental LAN Manager. Links to requests, instructions for installation and password recovery are listed below.
