
Program Requirements
Applicants must be graduates, or in their fourth year, of an accredited medical or osteopathic school.

We encourage application by women and ethnic minorities, and are particularly interested in recruiting residents considering careers in research, in academic psychiatry, and in work with underserved populations.
International Medical Graduate Requirements
Each state has its own Medical Practice Act and the requirements for training and licensure for graduates of international medical schools vary. All requirements listed below must be submitted before an interview will be granted. The following are requirements for all international medical school applicants with The University of Texas:
- Medical School Diploma (Must have an original and certified translation, in English)
- Medical School Transcript showing actual courses, grades and hours (Must have an original and certified translation, in English)
- Dean’s letter (Must have an original and certified translation, in English)
- No US clinical experience is required
- Three letters of recommendation
- Current CV (Curriculum Vitae)
- A valid ECFMG certificate (must be ECFMG certified)
- Passing USMLE scores by the third attempt (no minimum score requirements)
- Be a citizen, hold permanent resident status or qualify for a J-1 Visa (We sponsor J-1 Visas Only)
- Photo ID (Passport, Resident Alien Card, Driver’s License)
- Register with the National Resident Matching Program (ERAS)
