The Center for Neurobehavioral Research on Addiction

A Research Center of Excellence funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

Our research uses basic behavioral measures of impulsivity and decision making, along with brain imaging and clinical trials of novel medications to gain a comprehensive picture of causes and consequences of addiction and develop more effective treatments for the disorder.

The MOTIVATE clinic uses methods developed in our research to evaluate and treat patients with addictions.

The MOTIVATE Program is based on the scientific evidence that addictions are mental disorders that need a thorough medical evaluation and evidence-based treatment plan.

Studies Seeking Healthy Volunteers

A number of studies seek healthy volunteers as research subjects to compare with individuals who have addictions on measures of mood, reaction time and brain imaging. If you are a healthy individual between the ages of 18 and 50 call 713-486-2635.
