Etc.

Then & Now

Interim Dean Jerry Wolinsky has said that the official bird of the Texas Medical Center seems to be the construction crane. That is true if you look around today and see all of the buildings rising from the eath. The Medical School's six-story Replacement Research Facility is nearly complete and due to be finished in the fall of 2007 (below right).

Construction cranes also were in vogue in the early 1970s as evidenced by these historical photos of the Medical School Building's construction. The three phases of construction of the Medical School, which totaled nearly 1 million square feet (including the John Freeman Building seen finished at right), were completed in June 1978.
