

When most people think of a homecoming, memories of football games, tailgating parties, and sporting school colors come to mind. But, homecoming is also a time to reconnect with old classmates and remember the good times of years spent in school. This year, the Medical School's Alumni Association tried something new by coupling the annual Alumni Reunion with Homecoming – a first at the school, which took place April 22.

The 2006 Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient is J. Christopher Farmer, M.D., a 1982 graduate of the Medical School. The award is the highest honor given to an alumnus and recognizes outstanding contributions to medical science and education or the prevention and treatment of disease.

Maureen Leehey, M.D., '86, is a neurologist specializing in movement disorders at the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver where she has been since completing her residency and fellowship. She is married to Aubrey Dobbs, M.D., an internist, and they have two daughters, Courtney, 11, and Katie, 9. Dr. Leehey's passion is researching a genetic disorder known as fragile X-associated tremor/ataxia syndrome or FXTAS.
