Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension

This division is organized to provide educational opportunities in the broad field of renal diseases and electrolyte disturbances to both graduates and undergraduates. Clinical facilities and well-designed dialysis areas for acute and chronic hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis are available in Memorial Hermann Hospital and PDI-Houston Dialysis units. Transplantation activities are carried out in conjunction with the Department of Surgery and its Division of Immunology and Organ Transplantation.

In addition to providing didactic material for both undergraduate and house officers, the division supports clinical activities in the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, and Memorial Hermann Hospital. Preceptorships are available to fourth-year students and house officers rotating through the service. The fellowship program offers postgraduate training in clinical nephrology and laboratory research. Graduate and medical school student research opportunities are available.
