House Staff Association & House Staff Council |

The House Staff Association consists of all residents in each training program and provides a representative body for addressing important issues in resident life. The resident leadership of the Association consists of the Executive Council, and individual departments are represented by several Senators from each department. Senators also serve as representatives on many major hospital administrative committees, helping these groups work more effectively by having direct input from the residents involved in daily patient care. Faculty guidance and consultation is provided by several members of the UT Medical Foundation and senior hospital management. The Association plans and coordinates community service activities, social events, and professional development activities. Additionally, individual committees within the Association concentrate on specific issues related to Graduate Medical Education, Hermann Hospital, and LBJ Hospital, providing feedback to the faculty and administrative management of those organizations. The Association and Council also satisfy the ACGME requirement to provide an organizational system for residents to communicate and exchange information on their work environment and training programs. Association meetings are held at noon on the second Wednesday of each month in the Conference Center at Memorial Hermann Hospital. To keep abreast of the latest activities of the Council, visit the House Staff Council Website. 2008-2009 Officers
