Artist: Amanda Myres

Amanda Myres is a 1st year medical student at the UT Houston Medical School. She is a native of Houston and spent her adolescent years on a ranch in the small town of Bellville, Texas. Along with photography, she is an avid equestrian and enjoys outdoor activities. She has been blessed with the opportunity to travel throughout the world including Central and South America, Great Britain, and Africa. Most of her journeys to developing countries were spent as a part of medical mission teams that reached out to rural regions of poverty to share medicine, education, and the word of God to the local communities.

She always enjoyed photography and the interest was heightened with her travels. Originally she focused on landscapes and animals, but throughout college and her recent medical school career, her focus has changed. Her compassion for humanity and eagerness to promote health and wellness both physically and spiritually has ignited a new interest in capturing the beauty of the people and cultures around the world. She feels that each place and culture she has visited has become a part of her, and she plans to continue to minister hope and medicine throughout her medical career, wherever it may take her.
