Artist: Sam Li
Taking a picture, you freeze a single moment in time. Looking at a picture, you re-experience all the sights, sounds, and emotions of the past. A lingering smile, the roar of laughter, the majesty of architecture, or the serenity of nature can be preserved long after the experience is over. Anyone who can love, admire, and appreciate the world around them can be great photographers.
Born in Fuzhou China, I moved to the United States when I was six and have been a Houstonian ever since. My travels back to China have given me great opportunities to shoot landscape photography on the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the temples of Tibet. I graduated from UT Austin where I travelled extensively as a student of Entomology and learning macro-photography for the life of insects. Every free chance I get now as a medical student, I learn from great people like Dan Klepac of Radiology and Eric Rasch from Communications to continue my photographic development. Please visit my website at, www.athousandwordsmedia.com and my current exhibit in the Learning Resource Center.
“A picture becomes a work of art not when the masses line up to see it but rather when an individual experiences it, incorporates it into the soul, and treasures it.”
